“Dreamers”
by Lee Ko

copper, brass, 24k gold leaf

New South Finds recently featured multidisciplinary artist Lee Ko, sharing the story of her creative journey.

The article looks back at how her art started with her grandfather’s love for traditional Korean ceramics. It follows her path through fine arts studies in both South Korea and the United States. A special part of the story focuses on how she gives new life to things others might throw away. By using materials like old copper wires and recycled glass, she creates art that carries deep meaning.

The feature also talks about her work outside the studio. It introduces her community projects, such as The Hands Project and her non-profit organization, Hands On Well. These projects show her strong belief in how art can bring people together and help them heal.

You can read the full story and see photos of her work through the link below.

Eggcellent SculpTOON

Multidisciplinary artist Lee Ko presents her solo exhibition, Eggcellent SculpTOON, at the South Piedmont Art Gallery. This exhibition is a collection of 100 days of stories and meditations. Every night, in the quiet of her home, Lee shaped clay into eggs to record her daily life and thoughts as a mother and an artist in Union County.

Each piece in the show reflects a moment of patience and care, created through multiple firings and delicate work with recycled glass and gold leaf. We invite you to see these sincere records of daily life and connect with the stories behind each work.

The exhibition runs from March 26 through May 15, 2026. A special reception and Artist Talk will be held on April 30th at 12 PM.

CMC Art Gallery

“re: Bloom – Raining Flowers” is featured at the CMC Art Gallery in Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center from November 1st, 2023, until the end of January 2024.

It’s an honor to have my work showcased there, especially since this piece symbolizes “restarting” and “second chances” by using reclaimed copper wires. Placing it in a hospital setting feels perfect, as it aligns with the theme of wishing all patients a speedy recovery.

I have been wanting a chance to showcase the complete set in Charlotte for a long time, and I’m immensely grateful for this opportunity!
